Kindergarten Jump Start
Kindergarten Jump Start is a free program for incoming kindergarteners that takes place a few weeks before the school year begins. Students participate in a variety of math, literacy and hands-on activities; learn school routines; and become familiar with their new surroundings.
Data shows that students who attend Jump Start are better prepared for kindergarten than children who do not participate. They also gain confidence, leadership skills and enthusiasm for school. Don’t miss this opportunity to give your child a successful transition to kindergarten!

MobyMax
This program provides at-home support for students that can be monitored by both the teacher and the family. Every student at Hazel Dell has a personal MobyMax account login and password. Your child’s teacher will provide this at the beginning of the year and upon request.
MobyMax is a web-based instructional support for all students to use at home. The adaptive technology creates a unique, individualized education plan for each student, allowing gifted students to progress as quickly as they like while simultaneously ensuring that struggling students get the extra instruction they need. Students are fully engaged and develop an intuitive sense of concepts that are retained over time. MobyMax can be used on smartphones, tablets, personal computers and even some gaming stations.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
Hazel Dell practices Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. PBIS is an approach for supporting students’ academic and behavioral success by creating a safe, supportive school culture where students are recognized for their outstanding behavior both individually and collectively.
As a PBIS school, we focus on the Big 3: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. Students learn problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills through our use of restorative practices and the Second Steps social/emotional curriculum. Monthly award assemblies are held to reward students for achieving their behavioral, attendance and academic goals.
